This position is for electrical engineers interested in supporting design development for product and electrical systems and architecture. Duties involve interfacing with Product Planning, Marketing & Sales, and Management to evaluate customer requirements and define vehicle level targets, as well as providing engineering assistance and problem resolution. Scope of work includes sustaining design projects, new development programs, and employing innovation skills for concept development.Job Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate program definition activities with PACCAR teams to deliver cost-efficient solutions.
  • Coordinate with Product Planning, Manufacturing & PACCAR Parts to align major program requirements.
  • Set project vehicle performance targets with Vehicle Property Owners (VPO).
  • Define design requirements by completing major program Product Description Books (PDB).
  • Apply knowledge of electrical systems to the design and implementation of truck systems.
  • Coordinate and complete projects with other engineering groups within the company.
  • Identify and initiate complex designs.
  • Conduct necessary research incidental to design.
  • Complete design projects from planning, calculation, design analysis, testing, evaluation, to implementation.
  • Prepare engineering activity status reports.
  • Identify and coordinate resolution of production and Quality Assurance issues.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
    • 3+ years of experience is required.
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
    • Previous design experience of parts and assemblies is preferred.
    • Knowledge of heavy truck assembly and systems is preferred.
    • Experience developing vehicle systems is a plus.
    • Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Experience using Creo and/or Mentor Graphics is preferred.Why work for PACCAR/Kenworth?

          The salary range for the Sr Design Engineer- Electrical Systems is $84,000 - $131,700 annually.
